I ordered the carne asada burrito, which is scarcely found in this town. It was of good size with plenty of meat, which was well seasoned and plenty of cilantro & onion!
I order a flautas plate. It was good, they use a unique seasoning on their fried flautas which adds flavor to the crunch.
I also order a chicken quesadilla but I think they gave me chicken tacos because there was no cheese in it. It was ok.
I had a large horchata which was perfectly made. -

We have a picky eater in our midst. Thought we'd try Matteo's for his birthday Tuesday. Big WIN!!
He loved the asada tacos and we weren't sure he would. He said afterward that he'd like to have Matteo's again soon. We told him about the breakfast tacos and I'm pretty sure we will be in for those and without question, we'll be back for the asada tacos!
Also got great reviews on the green enchilada plate. Picked up another taco plate and a flauta plate.
Great food, large portions and super friendly service. -

Friendly staff, regular food, too much single-use plastic.
The staff was very friendly. Two separate individuals wished me a "blessed day." I don't know how to react to this statement...
There was also Christian music playing in the restaurant. I have NO problem with someone being Christian, agnostic, Buddhist, etc. I support freedom of religion. However, I feel uncomfortable eating in a place playing Christian music as I would if it was Islamic music, Buddhist chanting, or satanic metal. I came to eat not to worship. And let's face it, Christian music is pretty terrible (not-original, basic, predictable, over-produced, etc.)
My veggie gordita included tasty bread, guac, cilantro and iceberg lettuce. I would have made this better at my house because I would have included some lime juice. Everything came in plastic, plastic forks, plastic containers and plastic cups. Not ok with this.
I ordered the cucumber limeade. This was sweet and tasty. I watered it down half-way and had a whole new drink! Prices here were reasonable. Otherwise, I don't intend to go back. -

Went to Las Cruces to visit friends and we were told that Matteo's is a definite must try! We went to eat post hike and it was honestly the only thing I could think of (and what kept me going) throughout the whole 2 hour hike. We ordered carne asada tacos, hatch green enchiladas, and their aquas frescas (loved the piña colada mixed with blue ocean). Everything was so filling yet satisfying! Meat was tender and well seasoned, the enchiladas were cheesy and flavorful, and the drinks were so refreshing! A much deserved meal after a hike or honestly anytime! Will definitely be coming back once we visit New Mexico again!

First off the horchata is the best I've ever had. The reason the get one star is that my whole family (4) got the asada tacos except my little brother and after we all felt really foggy. Like couldn't think straight at all. It lasted the whole day until we slept. I will never go back and neither will any of my family next time they visit. I see that some people have had a good experience, but it's not worth the risk if you ask me.
